Summary

The module convenor (Cinema: History & Analysis) applied for L&T funding to explore choice-based initiatives, which have been running on the module for several years. The project sought to evaluate how effective student input and choice are (on films and readings in the module) for helping students to reflect on the relevant lecture subject and cultivating seminar discussion. Student partners were employed to do this work because it allowed the focus groups with students to be more open and honest, while also supporting the  broader goals of pedagogical co-creation, which the choice initiatives themselves seek. This was intended to be an inclusive and empowering exploration of initiatives that themselves aim to be inclusive and empowering.
