Common scope, exceptions and monitoring clauses for assessments and feedback policy

This statement defines the common Scope, Exceptions and Monitoring and Review sections for the assessment, marking, standards and feedback policies and procedures.

Academic judgement policy

This policy defines the concept of academic judgement and provides examples of what does and does not constitute academic judgement.

Progression and award rules

This section sets out the rules relating to assessment, progression and award under the modular scheme at the University. The rules apply to all undergraduate programmes (including Integrated Masters) and taught postgraduate programmes being studied in the academic year 2025/26 except where exemptions have been granted.

Board of examiners for taught provision and procedures

This policy and procedure define the Board of Examiners (BoE) for taught provision and state their composition and responsibilities for taught module and programme provision.

External examiners for taught provision policy and procedure

This policy and procedure detail how external examiners for taught module and programme provision will be nominated and appointed, the broad role and responsibilities for examiners and others in ensuring the effectiveness of external examination of the University’s provision. The purpose of this policy and procedure is to promote academic quality and ensure academic standards are met.

Agreeing marks and awards for collaborative provision programmes policy

This policy details how marks and awards for programmes delivered in collaboration with partner organisations should be managed.

2024/25 Guidance and policies

This information details existing policy, procedure and guidance that remains in force and applicable to practice until it is superseded by new documentation as a result of continued development of the University's assessment and feedback policies, procedures and guidance.

Policy on exceptional awards

This policy details the circumstances by which an award may be made to a student unable to complete their intended award in the event of student illness or death, and the procedure by which applications can be made for exceptional awards. This includes for Aegrotat Awards, and both taught and postgraduate research awards.
