50th anniversary event at York Minster

As well as our five key channels of public engagement, the Events Office manages a number of other corporate events. 

Building openings

Building openings are an opportunity to engage influencers, current and potential funders, and other interest groups, with University departments. Please get in touch if you are planning to open a new building on campus; we shall work with you to coordinate an opening event; compile an invitation list, and coordinate social elements of the event including a drinks reception/dinner as appropriate. 

Honorary Graduates

Graduation is an opportunity to honour outstanding individuals with an honorary degree, and to welcome them to the University. The Events Office manages the programmes for each Honorary Graduate, including visits to departments where appropriate, and where time allows. We also coordinate VIP lunches to give staff members an opportunity to network with honorary graduates and other local VIPs, and a Graduation Dinner at which we celebrate our honorary graduates with key friends, supporters, civic dignitaries, and key staff.

If you agree to present and Honorary Graduate at their degree ceremony, we also take responsibility for editing speeches to make sure they fit to time, and are formatted correctly.

Corporate VIP visits

The Events Office provides advice and support for corporate VIP visits to the University eg MPs. This can range from advice on venues, timings, hotels, to full logistical support for an event.
