Considering the political and moral economy of umbilical cord blood banking

Dr Nik Brown, Dr Laura Machin and Dr Danae McLeod are conducting research into umbilical cord blood banking. This exciting area of research considers the political and moral economy of umbilical cord blood banking through new forms of consumption, parental responsibility and the changing balances between public and commercial bioscience.

Participants for a series of interviews and focus groups are needed to discuss cord blood banking. We wish to speak with people who may have donated or deposited their child’s cord blood, or those who considered it during their pregnancy. We would also like to speak with parents or couples of child-bearing age who have not considered cord blood banking in any depth. Anyone who would like to discuss cord blood banking is encouraged to get in touch.

More information about the project can be found on the Cord blood research team’s webpage.
