Sustainable consumption and production

We work to link the environmental, social and economic impacts of production to the consumption activities that drive them.

Our team has a broad range of backgrounds and expertise, including geography, biology, ecology, mathematics and modelling.

We work to provide useful contextualized data and information for governments, policy makers, NGOs, industry and the public. Our range of exciting and diverse projects complement and build on our holistic approach to understanding complex global systems.

Project highlights

We work across a range of exciting and diverse projects which complement and build on our holistic approach to understanding complex global systems. Many of our research projects have led to the development of tools which can be used in a wide range of sectors.

A globally recognised source of data and intelligence which enables governments, the private sector and others to tackle deforestation in global supply chains.
This online tool helps organisations and individuals track, report, reflect on and make sustainable decisions around travel-related emissions.
A free, interactive tool that can be used to visualise and interact with data on the global environmental impacts of UK consumption and production.
This project explored how different systems of trade have affected biodiversity from biophysical, social, political and economic perspectives.
