The University of York’s School for Business and Society is hosting a one-day conference to bring together researchers working on studies that have involved the public. This includes studies with Community, Patient and/or Public Involvement elements, co-produced studies, those that have worked alongside People With Lived Experience (PWLE), and Citizen Science.

Dr Rachel Pateman will discuss SEI York’s citizen science work which began over 15 years ago with the Open Air Laboratories (OPAL) project. Since then, the citizen science team has grown and is now undertaking projects around the world, including work in Kenya, Mexico and Thailand. The team not only produces research through citizen science, but also critically reflect upon and evaluate their practices to advance the methodology itself.

The conference will be taking place in person, but attendees are also welcome to join via Zoom.
