Impact on large families of two recent welfare reforms

A series of short videos that document the reality of the effects of the two-child limit and the benefit cap.

Larger families have always faced a higher risk of poverty. Two recent welfare reforms, the household benefit cap, which limits the benefit income a household can receive, and the two-child limit, which restricts universal credit and tax credits to two children, are expected to increase this risk even further.

The York Policy Engine has supported the benefit changes and Larger Families project (funded by the Nuffield Foundation) to develop a series of powerful short videos that document the reality of the effects of the two-child limit and the benefit cap. A number of the participants in the project have shared their experiences of being subject to these policies, which are a crucial reminder of the daily struggles created by the reforms.

Below is the first in the series, you can see the rest on the website.
