York Tutorial Programme

The York Tutorial Programme (YTP) is an online course to help our offer-holders consolidate their maths skills. We encourage you to engage with this programme alongside your A-level (or equivalent) revision, to help you prepare for your exams.

What does the YTP cover?

There are six modules in the programme covering:

  • Algebra
  • Trigonometry
  • Vectors
  • Kinematics
  • Differentiation
  • Integration

Each module requires you to complete a series of questions on a particular topic. These are delivered through Isaac Science. You can attempt each module board as many times as you like.

Most applicants who achieve 75% or above in all six module boards will be eligible for a one grade reduction in their offer, as specified in your offer letter. This reduction is not combinable with a reduction for an EPQ.

What support is available?

As an offer-holder, you are encouraged to join our online tutorials, hosted by an academic member of staff. Each tutorial will start by looking at one of the module topics in more detail, and using the skills for an interesting application in physics and/or engineering.  The second half of each tutorial will be open for you to ask questions about any of the six modules. These sessions will give you a deeper insight into University level study and will also be an opportunity to get practical advice from an expert!

How do I access the programme?

All of our offer-holders will be provided with a link to the York Tutorial Programme in their offer letter. The programme is intended exclusively for University of York Physics and Engineering offer-holders.

When do I have to complete the programme?

You can complete the programme anytime, but for those who wish to benefit from a reduced offer, they must have achieved 75% or higher in all six module boards by 1 August 2026
