Professional Connect: Get ahead. Get connected.
Following the success of the last Professional Connect event in February, students have another chance to meet up with successful young professionals, many of them York alumni, this term.
This time, around 55 professionals will be on hand on Thursday 2 May to give invaluable advice and tips on working in the sectors of Media and Publishing, Environment and Life Sciences, and Technology.
Brought to you by Careers in association with YUSU, GSA and the Alumni Office, Professional Connect is part of a wide range of careers activities designed to help our students get ahead in today’s competitive job market. The event puts them in touch with recent graduates so they can gain insights, be inspired and develop their own ambitions long before they leave university.
More and more employers are looking for graduates with awareness and experience of the sector they wish to enter. This is a great place to find out how to gain the right knowledge and experience while still at York.
Leading companies represented include the BBC, ITV, Bradt Travel Guides, Royal Albert Hall, Radio 1, Thales, The Open Energy Market, IBM, Megabot, AstraZeneca, Environment Agency, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Natural England. 400 students attended Professional Connect in the Spring, with over 95.5% stating that they found the panel sessions very well organised and 86.5% saying that they would like to attend a similar event in the future.

The format of the event is three parallel Q&A panel sessions in each of the sectors, followed by a large scale networking event over drinks.
