Come to our panel event to hear from expert lecturers on how the law and activism can work together, and where this togetherness breaks down.

About the speakers

Dr. Mattia Pinto
Lecturer and co-convenor, LLM in International Human Rights Law and Practice who will be discussing anti-torture activism and the limits of criminal justice for addressing rights violations.

Professor Martin Jones
Professor of International Human Rights Law at the York Law School who will be discussing the use of law in places 'without' the law and using ideas of 'Human Rights law' that aren't traditional. Focusing on his work with refugee lawyer activists and the risks facing lawyer-activists.

Dr. Silvia Falcetta
Associate lecturer in the Department of Sociology who will be discussing the relationship between activism on sexual orientation discrimination and human rights in the context of the European Court of Human Rights,
