Event details

The betting/gambling industries are often debated and frequently criticized in the media and in public debate, and the views and voices of recovering addicts, pressure groups and public health experts are loud and clear. The perspectives of those within the industry are heard less often, and whilst there are real issues that need to be addressed, the realities of who bets, why they bet, and how the industry operates are not always well understood.

Richard Flint

Richard ran Sky Bet, one of Leeds largest employers, for around 13 years, and will give his perspectives on growing a betting business, the ethical challenges, and the pros and cons of different regulatory options ahead of the upcoming White Paper on Gambling reform. Prior to running Sky Bet, Richard worked at the Financial Times and at consultancy McKinsey & Co, and has an Engineering Degree from Oxford and a Public Policy Masters from Harvard.
