Marking Global Climate Strike Day

Professor James Clark, and Professor Avtar Matarhu will present the work of the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence as part of our response to the global climate strike taking place around the world.

Society faces the two global problems of resource depletion and pollution caused by waste. The circular economy addresses these simultaneously by seeing what we now consider to be wastes as future resources. In this talk James and Avtar will explore this concept by looking at the depletion of traditional resources and at two well known wastes: food waste and waste plastics.

You are also encouraged to drop into the Spring Lane Building between noon and 2pm for an exhibition showcasing some of our work in sustainability. Tea and coffee will also be available - please bring your own cup.
