This class provides an opportunity to exploit the possibilities of vocal coaching focusing on the dramatic potential of the material to enhance the performer's understanding and communication of the musical material and the audience's reception of the performance. Participants may choose to work on either a song from a “classic” musical (i.e. one that was performed without amplification) or a nineteenth-century art song suitable for theatrical treatment. It's all about the impact of the dramatic details, from the small lift of an eyebrow and shift of gaze, to the larger use of gestures and physical positioning in the performance space.
