Tuesday 22 January 2019, 4.00PM to 5.30pm
Speaker(s): Yvonne Seymour
The first half of the session will focus on warm-up exercises especially suitable for pre-choral rehearsals and performances. The exercises will show how to warm up quickly and efficiently without putting the vocal folds under too much stress whilst activating the many muscles that work together to produce a coordinated and healthy sound. Many performers use poor editions and are often, therefore, basing performance decisions on incorrect or inadequate information.
The second half of the workshop will give information and lists of reliable editions and explain why these are more suitable for singers and accompanists studying in an informed and more academically responsible manner.
Location: E/106 Lecture Room/Rehearsal Room, Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall, Campus West
