Event details

The Department of Language and Linguistic Science is currently accepting applications for the Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL). This intensive, level 5 course is open to everyone and is accepted by the British Council as an initial TEFL or TESOL qualification.

The programme is designed to provide the practical skills and knowledge necessary to take up a first post as an English language teacher. Classes take place in person on the Heslington West campus, requiring full-time attendance from 09:00 to 17:00, alongside evening preparation time.

Two courses are scheduled for 2026. The first from 8 June to 10 July 2026 is full, but places are still available on the second course which runs from 17 August to 18 September 2026.

Applications for the August course will remain open until 17:00 on Wednesday 20 May 2026. Read more about the course and apply via the department’s CertTESOL website.
