IMRY member and SAINTS PhD student Prenika Anand contributed to a workshop to discuss the use of advanced technology in supporting mental health rehabilitation.

The EPSRC Rehabilitation Technologies Network+ (https://www.linkedin.com/company/rehabtechnologies) successfully hosted its fourth workshop on "Technologies for Mental Health Rehabilitation in Comorbidity Conditions" on May 1, 2025, at the Jubilee Conference Centre, University of Nottingham. The IMRY was represented by Prenika Anand, currently pursuing her Phd in the Safety of Artificial Intelligence, with a focus on assisted living.

The event brought together a diverse group of researchers, clinicians, practitioners, and academics, fostering insightful discussions about the future of mental health in the context of rehabilitative care. Conversations covered patient needs, an innovation scan of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, and concluded with reflections on key gaps and challenges.

Drawing on expert insights into the diagnosis, progression, management, and rehabilitation of mental health as a comorbid condition, the workshop explored considerations of elements of human interaction that must remain central to technological advancements.

The NRC now aims to develop a policy brief outlining recommendations for future technologies in this important field, and we will keep you posted on its release.
