Art Awareness Week

History of Art students collaborate on an exciting week-long programme of arts and cultural activities at the University of York

Students from the three main arts societies at the University – SAASY, the Norman Rea Gallery Committee and Art History Society – have joined forces to plan a packed schedule of events to highlight the visual arts on campus. More details will follow shortly, but there is a draft timetable of events below.

Monday 11th June:  Launch of Arts Awareness Week in Norman Rea Gallery with raffle of tutors’ books, 7.30pm 

Tuesday 12th June: Artistic Mural on Vanbrugh Paradise . 12-5pm 

Film Screening of 'The Artist'. 7pm, PX001

Wednesday 13th June: International Student Symposium; 1-2:30pm in L46

Conservation, art storage and curation talk by Laura Turner. 6pm Kings Manor K133

Thursday 14th June: Career fair with the National Trust, Heritage Foundation and Church Conservation. 3-5pm in L47

Friday 15th June: Artist Worksop with Jake Spicer in The Private Dining Room in Langwith College. (Next to the Norman Rea Gallery) 12-3pm.

Art Party with seven piece Jazz Band and art auction in Bar Lane Studios. 7-11pm.

Saturday 16th June: Artist workshop with Jake Spicer workshop in York City Art Gallery. 12-3pm. 

'Eyes on the Khyber' a Norman Rea Exhibition opening in Ron Kirk Hub, 7pm.

Monday 18th June: Arts Awareness Week's Exhibition Opening  7pm
