Call for PhD Applications
The University of York, CITY College, University of York Europe Campus and the South-East European Research Centre (SEERC) announce the opportunity for qualified candidates to read for a PhD Degree that combines high-quality UK studies and a unique research infrastructure in South-East Europe.
PhD candidates will be enrolled at the University of York while being hosted and supported by SEERC at Thessaloniki for the duration of their studies. Successful degrees will be received from the University of York. Projects are offered in a broad range of areas including computer science, language and linguistic science, management and psychology studies and will be jointly supervised by academics at both SEERC and the University of York.
A small number of fee waiver scholarships will be available for successful full-time candidates. The fee waivers will be offered to applicants with outstanding academic records and the selection process is highly competitive.
Applicants for the programme must have an excellent academic record (normally a relevant Degree with Distinction). In addition, relevant work experience, a Masters degree, research training, and publications will also be considered.

The University of York has the following minimum entry requirements:
- a relevant first Degree (2.1 and above or equivalent)
- proof of English Language Qualifications - Find out about York's English language requirements for prospective students. Topic 11: The neuropsychological correlates of mathematical anxiety in adolescents
Topic 12: Understanding the role of personality in emodiversity and their neuropsychological correlates using EEG
Topic 13: Executive functions in bilingualism and the role of dopamine activity
Research Track 4: Language and Society: Linguistics, Education, Literature and Translation
Topic 14: Exploring attitudes towards native and non-native accents of spoken Modern Greek
Topic 15: The use of drama techniques via VR in teaching English pronunciation to ELF* learners
Topic 16: Cultural mediation in the refugee context: the case of Northern Greece
