Year In Enterprise

The Year in Enterprise lets final-year undergraduates gain academic credit for starting a business. Benefits include a fee waiver, coaching, free workspace, networking, and access to the Proof of Concept scheme. A Creative Immersive stream offers extra support for immersive industry startups. Participants graduate a year later with "Year in Enterprise" on their degree certificate.

Summer Accelerator

The Summer Accelerator helps students launch their business ideas with £2,000 living allowance, eight weeks of workspace access, five hours of business coaching, and University support. Open to individuals or teams, it’s about testing ideas, not guaranteeing success. Participants must document their experience and share insights. Sponsored by Santander, the program,e runs during summer vacation.

Explore Enterprise

The Explore Enterprise programme is a five-week initiative (Semester 1, weeks 6–10) designed to teach the basics of starting a business through interactive workshops. Sessions cover business ideas, market research, models, and pitching, culminating in a pitching competition. Ideal for beginners, it helps build business knowledge and connect with like-minded students starting their entrepreneurial journeys.

Expand Enterprise

This online course helps students advance their business ideas, building on work from the "Explore" course, though prior completion isn’t required. It covers values, market positioning, customer access, funding, and next steps, along with outsourcing, legal considerations, and marketing readiness. Accessible via your University Google account, the course guides participants through refining their business blueprint and strategy.

Bioenterprise

This module in the Department of Biology explores the entrepreneurial process of transforming bioscience innovations into products or services with societal and financial impact, focusing on the "science-to-product" pathway. Running in Semester 2 (2024-25), it combines lectures, workshops, and practicals to cover marketing, finance, intellectual property, and regulation. Students gain skills in communication, persuasive writing, and stakeholder analysis, enhancing employability across sectors.

Enterprise - Electronic Engineering

This module in the Department of Electronic Engineering focuses on business innovation in a technology-driven world, where students collaboratively use a game-based platform to develop a viable business plan. Running in Semester 2 (2024-25), it covers entrepreneurship theory, market analysis, finance, intellectual property, marketing, and product commercialization. Students gain skills in creating business plans, technical reports, presentations, and teamwork while exploring legal, operational, and risk management aspects.

Business & Innovation in Digital Enterprise

This 20-credit module in the Department of Theatre, Film, Television, and Interactive Media equips students with the skills to develop and launch innovative tech businesses. Running in Semester 2 (2024-25), it covers macro-environmental factors, economic contexts, legal issues, and professional ethics in interactive media. Students collaboratively design business pitches, analyse market factors, and refine communication skills, enhancing employability and entrepreneurial potential.

Business Planning & Sustainable Entrepreneurship

This 20-credit module in The York Management School equips students to create and develop sustainable business ventures through teamwork and detailed business planning. Running in Semester 1 (2024-25), it covers business idea development, value propositions, financial forecasting, market analysis, operations, risk assessment, and teamwork dynamics. Students gain practical insights into business start-up methods, management integration, and sustainable problem-solving, enhancing both academic and graduate skills.
