Courageous, humane and uncompromising, devastatingly poignant and yet never self-pitying, Emilie Pine’s Notes to Self investigates and challenges society's assumptions around pain, strength, resilience and identity, ultimately embracing joy and hope in the business of living.

Emilie Pine is Associate Professor of Modern Drama at University College Dublin, Ireland. She has published widely as an academic and critic. Notes to Self is her first collection of personal essays and the winner of the Sunday Independent Best Newcomer award, the Irish Book Awards Book of the Year 2018 award and The Butler Literary Award 2018. She has written for the GuardianIrish Times and The Stinging Fly

A drinks reception and book signing will follow the talk.
