Mikiya Sakamoto, co-supervised by Dr Nicoletta Asciuto and Prof. Erica Sheen, has received honourable mention in the Young Scholar Award competition, from The English Literary Society of Japan, for his article entitled 'Ineffability and Incarnational Poetics in 'Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats''.

Mikiya Sakamoto will receive a prize of 50,000 yen and his article will be published in the English Literary Society of Japan's academic journal Studies in English Literature.

Publication is currently scheduled for Volume 103, coming out as a print publication this December, with online publication likely to follow in March 2027.

The English Literary Society of Japan was founded in 1917 and every year awards prizes that recognize excellent research done by early-career scholars in English and American literature. It is worth noting that this year they did not award a Young Scholar Prize, but only an honourable mention.
