A Celebration of Poetry and her sister Arts
Event details
We are delighted to announce ‘A Celebration of Poetry and her sister Arts’, an event to celebrate the work of Professor Anthony V. Capildeo, Writer in Residence in the Department of English and Related Literature.
Anthony’s distinguished career as a poet and non-fiction writer has been capped this last year with the award of two prestigious prizes: a Windham Campbell award and a Saltire (Scotland’s National Book Prize) award, both in the poetry category. 2026 sees the publication of their non-fiction début, Masqueraders. An afternoon and evening of events will bring together colleagues, friends, the wider arts community and members of the public to explore and celebrate Anthony’s poetic and non-fiction work. Booking is by Eventbrite links below.
Programme: A Celebration of Poetry and her sister Arts
- The events will begin at 1pm with ‘A Conversation Over Lunch’ between Anthony and Father Dominic White (OP) - this will range across art, pleasure and music. A sandwich lunch will be available.

- For those coming to both the afternoon and evening events, there will then be an informal ‘Stillness with Trees Workshop’ led by Anthony, followed by Sung Vespers led by Fr. Dominic. No need to book; please feel free to join Anthony and Fr. Dominic.
