A student-led Diversifying and Decolonising the Curriculum Initiative has been established at the Department of Economics.

A student-led Diversifying and Decolonising the Curriculum Initiative, established at the Department of Economics in September 2023, will give students the opportunity to work with various members of staff to enhance the diversity of the economics curriculum.

The activities of the initiative, as suggested by students, include:

  • Researching the ways the material and/or the reading lists in a sample of modules across different years can be diversified.

  • Making suggestions for diversifying the speakers at departmental talks and events for students.

  • Developing a survey to gather views on what students know and think about the diversity of the economics curriculum.

  • Arranging workshops with students to discuss diversification and decolonisation.

  • Creating an online presence for the initiative to share their work with a wider audience.
