New clinical practice guideline on safe eating for children during cancer treatment

A new internationally developed clinical practice guideline recommends joyful eating during childhood cancer treatment. Yes, food needs to be safe, but there's limited value in the "neutropenic diet", an eating plan initially designed to prevent infection.


A new and improved PROSPERO website has been launched!

Since 2011, PROSPERO, the world’s first prospective register of systematic reviews, has been registering systematic reviews relating to health and social care. Funded by the NIHR since inception, PROSPERO has been a thriving resource for over a decade. It has been instrumental in promoting transparency, helping safeguard against bias and unintended duplication and research waste. PROSPERO currently has over 325,000 registration records.


Peter Holmes Prize

CRD researcher Kerry Dwan was awarded the 2024 Peter Holmes Prize along with colleagues Laura Bonnett and Susanna Dodd (University of Liverpool) for the article “Clinical trials concocted for the classroom”. The aim of the award is to highlight excellence in motivating practical classroom activity.


Number of systematic reviews registered in PROSPERO passes 300,000: How the numbers have changed over time

PROSPERO, which is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research in the UK has since 2011 provided researchers with a free, searchable, online platform for registrations of systematic review protocols with a direct health-related outcome. Registrations have increased year-on-year resulting in a substantial number of new protocols being submitted and published daily.
