Oak National Academy Primary Science resources
The CIEC team has been working with the Oak National Academy since March 2023 to create resources for 400 new KS1 and KS2 lessons. Teachers now have full access to all of these high-quality science teaching and learning materials.

We are delighted with the comprehensive and high-quality suite of teaching resources created. The units provide full coverage of the statutory objectives for primary science and introduce concepts and skills in a logical, age-appropriate, and meaningful sequence, covering all aspects of substantive and disciplinary knowledge outlined in the national curriculum.
The curriculum plan offers flexibility by design so that schools can use it in a way that fits their context and meets the varying needs of teachers and their pupils. Every lesson is optional and can be used in its entirety or adapted to better reflect the prior knowledge of pupils, the relevance to schools’ local context or to complement existing curricula. Each lesson has downloadable slide decks, prior-knowledge starter and post-knowledge exit quizzes, useful formative assessment worksheets and guidance documents. Each of these can be used as a high-quality starting point for primary teachers to plan their own lessons and save significant time in their workload.
The achievements of scientists from different genders, ethnicities, and nationalities are highlighted to encourage a diversity of perspectives and experiences. This approach ensures that the lessons are inclusive, challenging common misconceptions and helping children to recognise themselves as scientists and be proud of who they are.
These resources are free for anyone to access and amend as they see fit. Access the resources here.
