The Housing First Guide Europe, which was launched in 2016 now forms a core component of a new pan-European initiative to promote Housing First's further development.

Housing First is an innovative way of reducing homelessness among people with high and complex needs, including severe mental illness.

The new initiative is called the Housing First Europe Hub (http://housingfirsteurope.eu) and aims to bring together research, policy and practice from across Europe. Two major UK homelessness organisations Homeless Link and Crisis are active members of the new Hub.

Nicholas Pleace (pictured above), a Senior Research Fellow of the Centre for Housing Policy, wrote the Housing First Guide Europe in 2016 and the Guide is now available in French, Spanish, Italian, Hungarian and Czech, with further translations being planned.

Nicholas has also worked with Homeless Link, in the UK, on the development of 'key principles' and guidance for Housing First, drawing on the wider European work.
