PhD projects for 2020 entry

Funded PhD positions are available to those who meet the UKRI residency criteria and who meet the entry requirements for studying for a PhD in Chemistry at the University of York.  Some projects are also available to those from other European Union countries; please check the eligibility criteria for each project.  Some projects are directly funded while others compete for funding.

We welcome applications at any time from those who are able to fund their own studies.  Please see projects listed below.  Most academic staff are happy to work with those who can fund their own research to agree a project. Our academic staff list provides details of the research interests of all academic staff.

We are pleased to offer studentships as part of three doctoral training partnerships.  All other research students follow our innovative Doctoral Training in Chemistry (iDTC): cohort-based training to support the development of scientific, transferable and employability skills.

The Department of Chemistry holds an Athena SWAN Gold Award and is committed to supporting equality and diversity for all staff and students.
