Professors Laura Bojke and Andrea Manca have received long service awards from the University of York.  They have each spent 26 years in CHE having joined the Centre in 1999 as research fellows having graduated from the York’s Master’s programme in health economics.  At a presentation evening for University staff receiving such awards, CHE Head of Department, Professor Mark Sculpher, delivered a commentary on both of his colleagues’ contributions to the University and to the field of health economics.  This included Laura’s developmental research in climate change and health, leading to her appointment as Inaugural Chair for the World Health Organization's Advisory Group on Economics for Environment, Climate Change and Health; and Andrea’s contributions in areas including methods of synthesis of clinical data and the analysis of clinical trials undertaken in different countries, for which he was awarded a research excellence in methodology award by ISPOR.  Mark also spoke about both colleagues’ roles in key leadership positions in CHE.

Although unable to make the event, Professor Rowena Jacobs' 26 years in CHE were also celebrated.  Rowena has also made major contributions to health economics, particularly in the field of mental health, and has been CHE’s Deputy Head of Department since 2021.
