What was your career route to CHE?
Whilst doing my undergraduate in Media Communications and Psychology at Webster University Vienna, I had the opportunity to undertake several communications internships and part-time roles across a range of organisations. These demonstrated the importance of communication to an organisation’s success. I quickly learned that whether it is a business, university, charity, or government organisation, communication is essential because it connects people, supports strategy, and enables organisations to function effectively.
I then went on to pursue an Erasmus Mundus master’s in Women's and Gender Studies at the Central European University and the University of York. During this time, I also fell in love with Yorkshire and began looking for graduate opportunities here. After graduating, I joined the University of Leeds School of Law as a Communications and Alumni Officer. I was responsible for developing communication strategies, managing multiple communication channels, and coordinating alumni engagement activities. A particular highlight was organising the School’s 125th anniversary celebrations, where I had the opportunity to engage thousands of members of the School community throughout the year, culminating in a major celebration with staff, students, and alumni.
Having previously spent a year studying and working across departments at the University of York, returning to the University felt like a chance to reconnect with a community I already valued deeply. The role at CHE offered the chance to contribute to a renowned and dedicated research centre with a mission that affects us all: helping make healthcare systems fairer and more effective for people.
What have you been working on since you came to CHE and what are you currently doing?
Since joining CHE almost a year ago, I’ve been developing content for and managing CHE’s digital presence, while leading strategic communications across a range of channels including web, newsletters, social media, and print. I also work closely with researchers, students, and central University teams to support research dissemination and create accessible and engaging content for funders, policy-makers, and academic audiences.
One of my favourite things about the role is how varied my days are, I’m constantly learning and meeting new people. One day I might be developing a marketing campaign for a short course or writing news articles for the website, and the next I could be advising project teams on communication strategies, meeting with colleagues across the University, taking photographs at an event, or developing an email campaign. I also genuinely enjoy working in such a welcoming and supportive team like the one we have at CHE.
At the moment, one of the biggest projects I’m working on is CHE’s social media strategy, which is currently being finalised ahead of implementation alongside my colleague Naomi Gibbs and the fantastic CHE Communications Group.
What are your future plans in CHE?
In the near future, I’m hoping to successfully implement CHE’s social media strategy and continue working with colleagues to strategically disseminate the impactful research taking place at CHE. I’m also very much looking forward to finalising CHE’s Annual Report 2025, which will provide an overview of CHE’s achievements and an opportunity to celebrate progress while reflecting on how we can build on what we’ve accomplished.
