Weaving a future: a curriculum for Nasa political and cultural leadership
Posted on Tuesday 5 August 2025
Representatives of the Association of Indigenous Councils of the Northern Cauca Department (ACIN) and the Indigenous authorities of the Resguardo de Huellas, Caloto will be developing a comprehensive curriculum that not only trains young people in the key skills required for Indigenous leadership but also strengthens the cultural and organisational fabric by promoting the transfer of knowledge between generations.
In addition to piloting the curriculum, the two Indigenous organisations will partner with the two universities - the Indigenous Intercultural Autonomous University and the University of Cauca - to develop an accredited diploma in Indigenous leadership, built around the curriculum. Its delivery on university grounds will provide safe spaces for Nasa elders, often targeted by non-state armed groups, to transmit their knowledge to the new generations.
