On the 14th March Eedris Abdulkareem, a well known Nigerian rap artist and CAHR Fellow, performed a live show at the University of York.

Eedris was joined on stage by Yetty Tabai and The Goos3bumpz band from Manchester and together they performed a mix of his well known hits and a few numbers from Eedris’ latest album, Human Right Vibes, written during his time on CAHR’s Protective Fellowship for Human Rights Defenders at Risk.

Eedris and the band brought great energy to the stage, inviting the audience to join him on stage and to sing along. Before the music started, he shared some stories about his social justice work and thanked the Protective Fellowship community for supporting him in many ways during his time in York.

The highlight of the night was perhaps the showing of the music video "York", which features several students, Friends, and a CAHR Director dancing around the streets of York.

Signed copies of Eedris’ album are available from the CAHR office. To request a copy, please send an email to hrd-fellowship@york.ac.uk

This event was jointly organised by the Centre for Applied Human Rights,  School of Arts and Creative Technologies and the Humanities Research Centre
