Roustom will share recent works such as his Violin Concerto No. 1 (2019), commissioned by the Pierre Boulez Saal for violinist Michael Barenboim, Ice, Wind, War & Spring (2020) for choir and orchestra, commissioned by the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, Embroidered Verses (2015) for takht (traditional Arab chamber ensemble) and choir, commissioned by The Crossing Choir, Clorinda Agonistes (2022), a chamber dance/opera commissioned by Shobana Jeyasingh Dance, and Gnizo (2021) commissioned during the pandemic for the US based violin percussion duo Verdant Vibes duo. The latter work is inspired by hymns from the Syrian Orthodox Church, which is becoming a greater source of inspiration for Roustom's recent music.

Kareem Roustom
Syrian-American Kareem Roustom is an Emmy-nominated composer whose genre crossing collaborations include music commissioned by conductor Daniel Barenboim and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, the Kronos Quartet, arrangements for pop icons Shakira and Tina Turner, as well as a recent collaboration with acclaimed British choreographer Shobana Jeyasingh. His music has been performed widely by orchestras in the USA, Europe and beyond.
