Event details

Take a seat in the underworld. But be warned, the truth isn't pretty.

For centuries, Penelope has been known as nothing more than Odysseus’ perfect wife. Now she’s here to set the record straight. The problem is, she's not the only one with a story to tell.

In this tragically relevant retelling, written by Margaret Atwood (The Handmaid’s Tale), Penelope's twelve murdered maids interrupt her truth with haunting songs of their own. Refusing to let their voices go unheard, they challenge audiences to ask: who has the power to tell their story?

Performed by an all-female ensemble, this production puts long-silenced voices centre stage. Witty and satirical, The Penelopiad breathes new political urgency into the legend you thought you knew.

So, why not join us on a journey to the underworld?
