Event details

Wilde in Love is a stage play about the downfall of Oscar Wilde.

For Oscar Wilde, February 1895 was the best of times.  He was the most popular playwright in Britain with a string of enormously successful plays behind him.  A sell-out lecture tour of the United States - where he arrived at New York Customs announcing 'I have nothing to declare but my genius' - and best selling anthologies of children's stories, had added to his fame and fortune.  He was the talk of London society and the star guest at fashionable soirees and parties.  On Valentine's Day that year his much anticipated new play, The Importance of Being Earnest, opened in the West End to rave reviews and sell-out performances.  But like a character in his latest play, the much loved writer was leading a double life and within a few short weeks his whole world was about to come crashing down...
