PhD topic title: Understanding the complexities of biodiversity change

PhD supervisors: Dr Inês Martins and Professor Colin Beale

Biography and research

My research will investigate how and why biodiversity is changing across in response to anthropogenic changes. There is limited consensus among researchers about how biodiversity is changing across different regions, time periods and spatial scales. Using data from global biodiversity datasets, I aim to understand what impact different human interventions have on biodiversity, including land use change or policy interventions, as well as investigating how variation in methodological approaches may impact observed trends.

I completed my BSc Conservation Biology at the University of Plymouth, and MRes at Durham University investigating meso-carnivore densities across protected and working landscapes. I have worked for a small eNGO, Badger Trust, for two years, managing Research and Projects, including running national citizen science initiatives State of the Badger and BrockWatch. My broad research interests involve population monitoring, conservation value of working landscapes, and species
responses to environmental change.
