Announcing this year's Big Community Challenge 2026: ‘Ready, Set, Rawcliffe!’

York Cares has announced this year's Big Community Challenge – four weeks of non-stop volunteering at one of York’s largest and most unique green spaces; Rawcliffe Country Park and the floodplain that meadows that sit beside it.
Starting on 21 September, staff members at the University of York can sign up to volunteer during this time to make York a more vibrant and biodiverse place to live.
Volunteering will focus on rejuvenation, making the park a better place for York’s residents to enjoy, exploring nature in the park and beyond. Activities will also deliver crucial nature recovery action, enhancing environments and making a significant impact to both local and wider communities.
