Things are moving forward in our journey to harness geothermal energy at the University of York.
While preparations continue for drilling our geothermal well, exciting progress is already being made on how we'll make the most of the energy it produces.
Here in the heart of Yorkshire, precision engineering is helping drive innovation as FeTu begins manufacturing a first-of-its-kind heat to power Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) generator. The system will be tested and deployed on our University campus ahead of the geothermal well being drilled next year.
Highly detailed machining and assembly are already underway, including work on key components such as the impressive bearing track shown in this image.
