Workplace Health and Safety Office
The Workplace Health and Safety Office is a team of impartial health and safety professionals. We provide our community with the tools to manage risk well, enabling staff and students to work, study and live safely at York.
Our objective
We work in partnership with our community to build a robust safety management system for the University. Our team offers independent, impartial expertise and dedicated support to faculties and professional services. In each department, Departmental Safety Advisers work with staff on local health and safety matters. The Workplace Health and Safety Committee focuses on University wide workplace health and safety issues across the University and promotes its continuous development and improvement.
Our vision
Our mission is to inspire a collective commitment to put health and safety at the heart of the University. We aim to encourage a culture where everyone is aware of their individual responsibilities and supported to act on them.
