Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak
Update Tuesday 24 March 2020
The University of York continues to actively monitor the COVID-19 outbreak.
Following the announcement of stay-at-home measures by the Prime Minister on Monday 23 March, the majority of university buildings will be closed by 5pm on Wednesday 25 March.
All teaching will have moved to online delivery from the start of summer term, Tuesday 14 April. With the exception of all first year examinations, which have been cancelled, all examinations and assessments for the remainder of this academic year will move online. At present, it is intended that exam results will be returned as quickly as possible.
The University is providing up-to-date information and advice for students, staff and all other stakeholders at https://www.york.ac.uk/coronavirus/
Our Employer Engagement Team is working remotely and we would encourage employers to contact us as normal on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01904 322498. We are happy to arrange virtual conversations during times when face to face meetings are not advisable.
Careers Events and Recruitment Activities
Careers and Placements has postponed or cancelled all physical events for summer term. This includes our Summer Job Fair (9 June). If you had enquired about this event you will hear from us shortly.
Bookings and enquiries for our autumn fairs (Law - 14 October; Grad Jobs and Placements - 15 October) will open towards the end of March.
We offer a wide range of opportunities to connect with students virtually, including:
- Vacancy promotion
- Virtual internships
We are committed to working with employers in the challenging months ahead, and want to support the recruitment needs of local, national and international organisations. We understand that circumstances are developing very quickly, so please feel free to check in with us during the next few weeks to let us know of any changing priorities.
If you are running any virtual events or other online opportunities please, let us know - we will be happy to make these available to our students via the Careers Gateway and our webpages over the coming weeks.
