Humans of York: Luke
"As a York native, the prospect of attending a prestigious world-class Russell Group university and being close to family and friends definitely appealed to me."
"The quality of the music facilities, personability of the staff, and general support structure were also important and continue to surpass my expectations.
"The highlight of my time here so far has been witnessing the perseverance of staff and students during such trying times.
"I look forward to post-Covid and being able to study on campus, but this has been a valuable lesson in determination and adaptation.
"Outside of my studies, I have been involved with student government and journalism; acting as a course representative and writing news articles for York Vision and The Tab.
"I'm also the vice president of the Literature Society and a member of the Art History, Music, and Philosophy societies, all of which have provided much needed social interaction during these isolated times.
"My advice for anyone considering university or new to university life, would be to utilise what's on offer.
"University, while incredibly rewarding, can be highly stressful at times, but there are so many wonderful opportunities and support structures available to you. Don't suffer in silence!"
