Humans of York: Beth Chadwick

“A lot of my stuff is really showing what a real postpartum body looks like… I will stand there in my pants on the internet so that other mums can feel less alone."

Our latest Humans of York story comes from marketing coordinator Beth Chadwick, who became an overnight sensation when her dance workout videos went viral while she was giving birth.

Beth started MoveFit Mama in Pocklington after the birth of her daughter in 2023, to create a community and space for postpartum mums to work out.

Ahead of her second child being born in January, Beth pre-recorded and uploaded workouts to YouTube, not thinking they would reach a wider audience than the 30 in her class.

But the community grew in its thousands worldwide. Beth now has almost 300,000 subscribers on YouTube and one million followers on Facebook.

She said: “I feel like I get a lot of comments saying, 'you're jiggly', or 'you're big'. 'Why would I take fitness advice from someone like you?' And I'm like, because we're the exact people who need it. I'm going through it currently.

“I'm still learning to love my body again and I want other women to feel that way as well. I always say it's my love letter to every mum who's postpartum or perimenopausal, menopausal and if it’s helping, it’s helping.”
