Dr Maggie Smallwood joined YESI in January 2012, working two days a week as business development manager.
She has a background in plant biochemistry and a specific interest in the sustainable use of biorenewable resources for manufacture of products.
She has over fifteen years experience in project management and development of large scale proposals to a wide range of research funding bodies.

Sheila Davitt-Betts joined YESI in September 2012 having fundraised and managed volunteer programmes for five years in the Charity Sector.
On joining YESI, she brings these skills to academia, along with many years experience
as a PA in the private and public sectors, to coordinate our events/activities and funding bids
for research grants.

Prof Sue Hartley was appointed as the founding director of YESI in November 2010.
She is a community ecologist, specialising in the study of plant-animal interactions; her current research is focused on using plant defences for
sustainable pest management and investigating the impacts of climate change on crops and their interactions with pests.
She has published over 100 papers and raised over £5million in research funding to support a range of collaborative inter-disciplinary projects.
