University Strategy 2030

A University for Public Good

Our University Strategy

The Strategy outlines our strategic priorities and shares the key projects and initiatives that are paving the way for us to meet the challenges of being a University for Public Good.

University Strategy to 2035

The four core University principles

Our University Strategy to 2035 is based on four core principles and focuses around six key aims that inspire every area of university life - our research, teaching, support and community aspirations.

Environmental sustainability
We integrate environmental sustainability across our research, education and operations to protect our collective future.
Interdisciplinarity
We drive innovation by fostering deep collaboration across traditional academic boundaries.
Internationalism
We build impactful global connections and prepare our students to be engaged citizens in an interconnected world.
Inclusion
We cultivate an environment where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are valued, empowering every individual to achieve their full potential.

Our strategic aims

Four strategic aims evolved from our principles, focusing our thinking and providing bold and distinctive paths of action.

The Vision for York, created in October 2021, continues to provide a framework for how our community works together to deliver our aims as we look ahead to 2035.
In 2026, we refreshed our current Strategy to guide us until 2035 and beyond. Read more about our community questions.
