REGISTER OF ONGOING SYSTEMATIC REVIEWS
International register of ongoing systematic reviews
Background
In response to growing concern about reporting biases, and advocacy of registration for systematic reviews, the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD) is leading an initiative to establish an international register of ongoing systematic reviews. More information about the development of the register can be found in the Rationale, About the Register, and Support for the Register pages.Delphi exercise
In order to arrive at an internationally agreed minimum data set for registration, a Delphi consultation exercise was carried out. The opinions of international experts in systematic reviewing, methodology, commissioning, and guideline development in health and social care and journal editors around the world were collected.
The consultation was run over a period of ten weeks and required participants to complete two rounds of questions. The questionnaires were administered electronically in Survey Monkey between July and September 2010. A summary of the responses to the first round was sent out with the second round questionnaire. On completion, a summary of the second round responses was sent out to the invitation lists.
The responses to the Delphi exercise were considered by CRD and the Register Advisory Group and used to inform the development and implementation of PROSPERO, an international prospective register of systematic reviews.Further details
