The art wall brings together our past with our present & includes historic views of York and King’s Manor, a gorgeous print of the 18th c New Walk in York, and an 1833 portrait of Yarburgh, which we brought from the Huntingdon Room at King’s Manor to Heslington Hall, where Yarburgh lived.
The Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies at York is the oldest and most established research centre for the field in the UK. We're a friendly and welcoming community with expertise across many humanities subjects. We also support an exciting range of events each year.

Our interdisciplinary approach to the long 18th century (1650-1850) generates new insights into this rich and complex period of history. Its afterlives and legacies continue to shape the present.
