The Department of Chemistry has its own dedicated library facility, the Whinfield library. Named in memory of Rex Whinfield, the inventor of Terylene, this contains all the major national and international chemical journals as well as some reference copies of the key undergraduate text books. Students are able to access all the major chemistry journals on-line from the library or through any computer on campus. The Whinfield Library also provides a quiet place for our students to study. The main University library, situated five minutes away from the Department, contains over 600,000 books, including textbooks covering every aspect of our courses. University Library opening hours.
