Learn from experts about pursuing a career in human rights. Our distinguished speakers include:

  • Claire Mahon (Human rights consultant): Founder and CEO of the Geneva-based Global Human Rights Group, Claire has over two decades of experience in human rights advocacy. This includes providing policy and legal advice to world leaders, UN agencies and working for non-governmental human rights organisations.
  • LLM and MA alumni panel: Hear first-hand experiences of how postgraduate studies at CAHR shaped the human rights careers of our alumni.
    • Simón Hurtado Delgado: Team Leader on International Civic Space at Rights and Security International (LLM in International Human Rights Law and Practice alumnus)
    • Samantha Holmes: Generating Respect Hub Coordinator, CAHR Research Associate, and Researcher for the Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict (LLM in International Human Rights Law and Practice alumna)
    • Dr Lucy Martin: Charity Consultant (MA Applied Human Rights alumna)
  • Dr Rhiannon Griffiths (PhD graduate): Explore the path to an academic career in human rights, specifically focusing on pursuing a PhD. Rhiannon is currently a Research Associate at the York Law School.

Sam Pegram Award presentations (4pm to 5pm)

Each year, CAHR honours outstanding LLM and MA Placement groups whose work exemplifies a commitment to reflexive human rights practice. The award is named after Sam Pegram, a remarkable alumnus who tragically lost his life in 2019. Sam’s dedication, thoughtfulness and reflexive approach continue to inspire us. It is in Sam's memory that his friends, family and CAHR staff established this award.

Social gathering (after 5pm)

Join us for drinks and refreshments as we celebrate human rights, honour Sam’s memory and connect with fellow participants.
