Aims
- To explore some of the key aspects of project management, and to consider the need for effective techniques and solutions for a conservation project
- To explore some of the key funding issues affecting the conservation of historic buildings;
- to consider costing and its implications;
- to discuss sources of funding and the means to a successful grant application;
- to consider imaginative financial solutions;
- to discuss the concept of disaster planning;
- to consider the application of risk assessment methods to conservation projects.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module students should have:
- an imaginative and flexible approach to project management;
- understood the principles and considered the practice of tight budgetary and operation controls of projects;
- a clear understanding of funding opportunities available in the UK;
- a good understanding of the potential risk assessment methodologies;
- an understanding of the necessity for an inter-disciplinary approach.
