Parking On Campus

The University campus contains a number of car parking facilities, designed to cater for all who use The University. Depending on your needs, you may be able to obtain a permit to park. Otherwise, for the majority of the time, you will be required to use one of the pay and display locations around campus. For more information on permits, see here, and see here for pay and display information. See below for exceptions to the pay and display rule.

Locations

Please note due to the University refurbishment programme there is limited parking at Central Car Park, North Car Park and South Car Park.

Short Stay & Free Parking

Across campus there are a small number of free short-stay parking bays, varying in time between 10-45 minutes. Around 30 of these short-term spaces can be found in the car park in front of the Information Centre at Market Square. These spaces operate a no return within one hour policy.

In addition, between the hours of 18:00 and 24:00 Monday - Friday, and 18:00 Friday - 24:00 Sunday, parking is free in the pay and display carparks. The requirement to pay and display will be waived during these times. Note that permit-only carparks are still reserved for permit holders during these times.

Disabled Parking

Special "Drivers with Disabilities Only" parking bays are provided within each main car park and at locations close to certain key buildings. These spaces are dedicated for the use of vehicles displaying a Blue or Orange Badge or a University Disability Permit. These bays are provided free of charge for qualifying person(s). If you require a University Disability Permit, you need to apply in the usual way, however no charge will be made. See the permit page for more information.

Car Sharing

There are currently spaces reserved for car sharers in the car park next to the entrance of Vanbrugh College for Heslington West Campus. The car share car park for Heslington East Campus is the Cluster 2 Car Park. For more details on car sharing, see this page.

Off Campus

Please note that there are also spaces available at The Kings Manor and other outlying premises for designated permit holders.
