The Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) aims to:

  • encourages the development and growth of The University of York, by seeking contributions and support from both alumni and friends of the University
  • create and sustain lasting relations with our alumni through regular communications, networks, member benefits  and events via the York Alumni Association
  • support future sustainability with the creation and upcoming launch of the YAA Professional Networks Programme  and YorkSpace , our online community for alumni and friends
  • create new opportunities personally and professionally for University alumni, staff and friends, opening doors for research collaborations, student recruitment and corporate contacts
  • encourage companies, charitable trusts and other grant-giving organisations to support University projects, students and research.

What else does DARO do?

The Office encourages support to the York Annual Fund which provides a valuable income stream for student support and a wide range of grass-roots projects that make a difference to the student experience. This fund can also be directed towards the areas of greatest need. Departments, Colleges, students, clubs and societies can apply for support  through the fund.

The development team are also responsible for fundraising for larger projects across the University – for further information on the current priorites please contact the Office.
